Museum of Prehistoric Thira:
Museum of Prehistoric Thira houses finds from the excavations
at Akrtotiri. The exhibition is structured in 4 units,
referring to the history of research at Thira, the geology
of Thira, the island's history from the Late Neolithic
to the Late Cycladic I period early 17th century B.C.
and the heyday of the city at
Akrotiri
Late Cycladic I period, 17th century B.C. Exhibits from
the period are: the plaster casts of furniture,
the household equipment, the bronze vessels, tools and
weapons, the objects that bear witness to the practice
of metalworking, the sealing, etc

Archaeological Museum of Thira:
was built in 1960 by the Ministry of Public Works in
order to replace the old museum built in 1902, which
had collapsed during the earthquakes of 1956.
The museum contains:
Sculpture, ranging from the Archaic
to the Roman period. Inscriptions, ranging from the
Archaic to the Roman period. Vases and clay figurines,
dating from the Geometric to the Hellenistic periods.

Megaron Gyzi: It is located in Fira
The cultural center of the island is Megaron Gyzi. Here
you can observe exhibitions, such as old manuscripts,
engravings with dresses, views and maps of the Cyclades
islands, clothes, from the island of the 16th through
the 19th century. You can find also old photographs
of how Santorini looked before the devastating earthquake
of 1956 and paintings of well-known Greek artists who
used to work on the island.

Archaeological Site of Ancient
Thira:.
It was founded
in the 9th century B.C. by Dorian colonists. Ancient
Thira is the Classical city of the island is located
on Mesa Vouno, 396 m. above sea level. It was inhabited
until the early Byzantine period.
The monuments of the site are, The
Sanctuary of Artemidoros, The Agora The Royal Stoa,
Temple of Dionysos, Sanctuaries at the SE edge of the
city, The Sanctuary of Apollo Karneios, Gymnasium of
the youths, Cemeteries of Ancient Thira, The Theatre.
